The Chest of Tales: People & Puppets proudly presents “The Fairies and the Stolen Cake”—a story that opens the door to the enchanting world of Scottish legends and magic. Join us for a delightful tale of a stolen cupcake and mischievous fairies, narrated by the playful terrier, Archie. With lively Scottish folk music composed specially for this production by Sergey Gavrilov, we invite you to be transported to the heart of old Scotland. Prepare for an evening filled with games, traditional dances, and the enchanting sounds of a magical harp! This original script draws inspiration from the Scottish folktale “Maisie’s Cakes” and Robert Burns’ poem “The Auld Wife Ayont the Fire.”“Maisie’s Cakes” tells the tale of a clever baker and her encounter with fairies, while Burns' poem explores themes of aging and wisdom. Together, these elements blend Scottish folklore and poetic tradition into a captivating experience.
